 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. GOV. OBIANO AND STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL MARKED 2022 ARMED FORCES REMEEMBRANCE DAY AT ST PATRICK'S AWKA.{PHOTOS}.

Government Should Support Armed Forces Heavily- Bishop Ezeokafor.



Governor Willie Obiano and members of the state  executive council have converged on Saint Patrick's Cathedral Awka for the 2022 Arm Forces Remembrance Day Celebration Eucharistic Mass.


The mass presided over by the Bishop, Catholic Diocese Of Awka,  Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor also attracted the incoming Deputy Governor Of Anambra State, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the new head Head Of Service, Barrister Theodora Igwegbe, Serving and Retired Service Chiefs including the State Commissioner Of Police, members of the Traditional Rulers Council and host of others.


Speaking at the event Governor Obiano expressed gratitude to Army officials for protecting the lives and property of the citizens saying that they made it easy for the people to be going about their normal businesses without fear of molestation.


Governor Obiano thanked them for their sacrifices for the nation both the retired and serving members , advising them not to relent. 


In a homily to mark the eucharistic mass, Most Reverend Ezeokafor said because members of the Armed Forces of any country  live out their best to serve government and the masses,it is important that government at all levels give them the  necessary support to make their work successful and happy while carrying out their duties.


He cautioned the Armed Forces to know they are  serving the public and  therefore  should be friendly and polite when performing their duties and stop harassing people unnecessarily and treating them like animals while he called for assistance for  all the retired members so their labours shall not be in vain..


While thanking God and Governor Willie Obiano for his support so far, the State Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Major Ben  Agbogu disclosed they need financial and moral support which will keep them happy having rendered selfless service to the nation. 


In their separate speeches, the National President Of ASATU, Barrister Titus Akpudo,the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Matters, Chief Alex Onukwue and the Transition Committee Chairman of Awka South, Sir Leo Nwuba commended Governor Willie Obiano for remembering the fallen heroes and veterans who put in their best to serve humanity, noting that the  Ozoemezin held in 2015 Governor Obiano was to show appreciation and sense of belonging to the fallen heroes as well encourage their various families that the fight fought by their loved ones was not in vain.
