 Benue Attacks Driven by Land-Grabbing Terrorists, Not Farmer-Herder Clashes, Says State Government The Benue State Government has attributed the recent wave of deadly attacks on communities in Ukum and Logo local government areas to organized criminals intent on seizing land from residents. Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, disclosed this on Tuesday, describing the perpetrators as terrorists who invade villages on motorcycles, armed with AK-47 rifles, to kill, maim, and displace locals from their ancestral homes. Kula reported that the death toll from the attacks has risen to 72, with assailants targeting farms, markets, and worship centers. He emphasized that the violence, often mislabeled as farmer-herder clashes, is deliberate terrorism aimed at occupying vacated lands. “They come in large numbers from a neighboring state, attack without warning, and chase people away to take their land,” Kula stated. “This is not a clash but outright terrorism.” The...

2023: We Won’t Allow ‘Peoples Destruction Party’ (PDP) Return To Power, Says El-Rufai 

Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai has taken a swipe at the main opposition party in Nigeria, The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying the APC is committed, by reaching a zoning formula agreement, to ensure the “Peoples’ destruction party” does not return to power.

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said contrary to reports in the media of division among the APC governors, the agreement had been reached on the zoning formula.

He said: “We have agreed on a zoning formula for all the six geo-political zones. Essentially, the northern zone will have the positions the south have had in the last eight years. And vice versa.

“So, by the grace of God, on the 26th of March, we would have done our national convention.”

el-Rufai also said, “We are committed to ensuring that the Peoples, Destruction Party doesn’t come back to power.”

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
