OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Anambra Police Command Decorates 83 Newly Promoted Officers



Eighty three newly-promoted police officers from the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have been decorated with insignias of their new ranks by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng.

The decoration which took place at the Force Command, Awka on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, follows the recent approval for promotion of officers of the force, by the Police Service Commission.

Among the newly-promoted police officers were one Superintendent of Police who was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, Fifteen Deputy Superintendent of Police elevated to the rank of Superintendent of Police and Sixty Seven Assistant Superintendent of Police 2 promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police 1.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Echeng congratulated the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-general of Police Alkali Baba Usman.

CP Echeng urged the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts towards fighting crimes and exhibiting high professionalism, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights to ensure that live and property of Ndi Anambra are protected.

He added that the promotion is in line with the Inspector-general of Police resolve towards boosting the morale of Police officers for effective service delivery, stating that the promotion comes with greater responsibility, dedication and discipline in their duty post.

Some of the newly promoted Police officers, SP Stephen Ewa, SP Joy Yusuf, ASP Mike Ugwu, appreciated the IGP and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of this promotion and also promised to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties pprofessionally.
