 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. Anambra Police Command Decorates 83 Newly Promoted Officers



Eighty three newly-promoted police officers from the Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have been decorated with insignias of their new ranks by the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Echeng Echeng.

The decoration which took place at the Force Command, Awka on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022, follows the recent approval for promotion of officers of the force, by the Police Service Commission.

Among the newly-promoted police officers were one Superintendent of Police who was promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police, Fifteen Deputy Superintendent of Police elevated to the rank of Superintendent of Police and Sixty Seven Assistant Superintendent of Police 2 promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police 1.

Speaking during the event, Mr. Echeng congratulated the beneficiaries on behalf of the Inspector-general of Police Alkali Baba Usman.

CP Echeng urged the newly promoted officers to redouble their efforts towards fighting crimes and exhibiting high professionalism, civility to members of the public and respect for human rights to ensure that live and property of Ndi Anambra are protected.

He added that the promotion is in line with the Inspector-general of Police resolve towards boosting the morale of Police officers for effective service delivery, stating that the promotion comes with greater responsibility, dedication and discipline in their duty post.

Some of the newly promoted Police officers, SP Stephen Ewa, SP Joy Yusuf, ASP Mike Ugwu, appreciated the IGP and the Police Service Commission for finding them worthy of this promotion and also promised to redouble their efforts in discharging their duties pprofessionally.
