 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. Anambra Police Nab Man Who Allegedly Murdered His Girlfriend



Police in Anambra have arrested Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly killed his 22 year-old girlfriend in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local government area of Anambra State.

Mrs Ngozi Nwude, who witnessed the crime told neighbours that the man had a violent relationship with the girl. 

According to her, the victim “has been living with the suspect. She is a native of Enugwu - Agidi in Njikoka LGA of the state, but her mother is from Mgbakwu. The boy has the habit of beating her in the past”. 

Other witnesses said that the suspect, Ikenna Asiegbu was allegedly beating the girl when she collapsed and was taken to the hospital where doctors confirmed her dead.

Angry youths in Mgbakwu upon seeing the corpse, descended on the suspect, and beat him to stupor. They tried to set him ablaze before Vigilante operatives arrived and took to their office and contacted the police. 

Anambra police command PRO, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said:
“The suspect Mr Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly murdered 22 year- old Miss Chidimma Christopher at Urutolu village, Mgbakwu has been apprehended and is now in Police Custody.

“We received information that the suspect beat up and murdered the victim in his house at Mgbakwu. The victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. Further development shall be communicated please”.
