  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. Anambra Police Nab Man Who Allegedly Murdered His Girlfriend



Police in Anambra have arrested Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly killed his 22 year-old girlfriend in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local government area of Anambra State.

Mrs Ngozi Nwude, who witnessed the crime told neighbours that the man had a violent relationship with the girl. 

According to her, the victim “has been living with the suspect. She is a native of Enugwu - Agidi in Njikoka LGA of the state, but her mother is from Mgbakwu. The boy has the habit of beating her in the past”. 

Other witnesses said that the suspect, Ikenna Asiegbu was allegedly beating the girl when she collapsed and was taken to the hospital where doctors confirmed her dead.

Angry youths in Mgbakwu upon seeing the corpse, descended on the suspect, and beat him to stupor. They tried to set him ablaze before Vigilante operatives arrived and took to their office and contacted the police. 

Anambra police command PRO, DSP Toochukwu Ikenga said:
“The suspect Mr Ikenna Asiegbu, who allegedly murdered 22 year- old Miss Chidimma Christopher at Urutolu village, Mgbakwu has been apprehended and is now in Police Custody.

“We received information that the suspect beat up and murdered the victim in his house at Mgbakwu. The victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty.
“Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. Further development shall be communicated please”.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
