Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. “If Biafra is achieved today, who's going to lead the Igbos? You don't look for Independence when you are not fully ready for it. It's a process, a gradual process that requires time, finance, and agreement. 

"You don't just wake up and start agitating for Independence, you might get it but it'll take time. Since IPOB and other freedom fighters from the East have been fighting for Biafra, have they gotten it? The question is why? Because the Igbo elites have not come in terms with them and their patterns. 

"Until we agree to seat with them, tell them what we want and they too comply, we can then put heads together to see if it's workable. Aside that, I would advise the leadership of IPOB who are my younger brothers and sisters to calm down so that we can see how Nigeria can be restructured to our own benefits because we are better together in one Nigeria than divided."
