 Putin woos African leaders at showcase summit, says Russia is better partner than 'colonial' West President Vladimir Putin told African leaders ​on Wednesday that Russia was their best partner, accusing what he cast as a colonial West of still trying ‌to exploit the continent's resources and using debt to hold back development, Reuters reported. The Kremlin chief was speaking at the third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, a two-day event attended by African leaders and government delegations from 48 countries, during which he will hold one-on-one talks with many of the 22 individual African leaders ​attending on everything from trade to security, arms deals and grain supplies. “If Biafra is achieved today, who's going to lead the Igbos? You don't look for Independence when you are not fully ready for it. It's a process, a gradual process that requires time, finance, and agreement. 

"You don't just wake up and start agitating for Independence, you might get it but it'll take time. Since IPOB and other freedom fighters from the East have been fighting for Biafra, have they gotten it? The question is why? Because the Igbo elites have not come in terms with them and their patterns. 

"Until we agree to seat with them, tell them what we want and they too comply, we can then put heads together to see if it's workable. Aside that, I would advise the leadership of IPOB who are my younger brothers and sisters to calm down so that we can see how Nigeria can be restructured to our own benefits because we are better together in one Nigeria than divided."
