 PDP postpones NEC meeting as N’Central insists on chair The North Central caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has expressed opposition to the indefinite postponement of its 99th National Executive Committee meeting, which was initially set for November 28. In a statement on Thursday, the Peoples Democratic Party, through its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, explained that the 99th National Executive Committee meeting was postponed due to the funeral of Patience Umo Eno, the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State and wife of Governor Umo Eno. It was previously reported by The PUNCH on Tuesday that the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, with the support of former Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, had made arrangements to stay in his position. Man Bags Two Years Jail Term for Land Fraud
 
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos on Monday, February 21, 2022, convicted one Wilfred Fajemisin, for the possession of fraudulent documents following his prosecution by the EFCC for an alleged land scam.

The EFCC had on July 6, 2020 arraigned Fajemisin before Justice Taiwo on a three-count charge related to the forgery of the signatures of the Deed of Assignment in relation to the landed property.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
