 FCT Court Orders N100m Compensation Against School Over 9-Year-Old’s Death An FCT High Court in Abuja has awarded N100 million in damages against Louisville Girls Secondary School, Gwagwalada, for negligence leading to the death of 9-year-old boarding student, Kamzie Ikpeatusim. Justice Sylvanus Oriji, delivering judgment on Tuesday, held that the school failed in its duty of care by delaying medical attention, which resulted in the child’s death. The case, filed by Kamzie’s father, Ifeanyi Ikpeatusim, alleged that the school did not respond appropriately when Kamzie fell ill in October 2017, just a month after resuming. The court also granted an additional N300,000 in litigation costs and ordered a 10% annual interest on the judgment sum from April 8 until full payment.  Security Agents destroy Homes, burnt Houses in Ahiazu Mbaise, Imo State

There was pandemonium as security operatives invaded Umuonyeoka Ihitteafoukwu and Okponkume communities in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State on Saturday and allegedly burnt down houses.

On arriving in the communities, the security operatives, who allegedly came in seven vehicles, headed for the homes of their targets and set them ablaze after not meeting the suspected ESN members.

An indigene of the community, identified simply as Emmanuella, said her grandma was injured during the raid and was currently unconscious.

A statement by an indigene of the area, Emeka Obasi, condemned the manner in which the operation was carried out.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
