 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Anambra International Convention Center Opens To The Public, As Governor Obiano Honours Team Members And Key Stakeholders



The Ultramodern Anambra International Convention Center, Awka has been inaugurated.

The main auditorium at the center has ten thousand sitting capacity, with other features and amenities

It is one of the legacies, with elegant, classy architecture, which depicts the vintage Governor Obiano who performed the function.

The day's event was heralded by inspection of the mounted guard of honour by the Governor.

The commissioning event coincided with award presentations to the Governor's team and key stakeholders.

In a speech, Governor Obiano who recalled and appreciated the support he enjoyed from ndi Anambra and beyond as Governor of the state, explained that

Anambra State honours law of 1995, empowers him as Governor to categorise the awards, noting that dishing out the awards to deserving and distinguished ndi Anambra as he believes that they are people that can encourage and motivate themselves and other people.

Former Commonwealth Secretary General and Chairman of the Occasion Chief Emeka Anyaoku who said that Governor Obiano was a wonderful partner in action and history, described him as one of the prepared leaders that Nigeria has ever had, saying that the event is an extraordinary occasion to celebrate an extrordinary man

While stating that indeed, Anambra is on a journey to higher development trajectory, Chairman of South East and Anambra State Traditional Rulers'Council, Igwe Emeka Achebe who is the Royal Father of the day said that ndi Anambra are celebrating the Governor for leading the state most successfully in the past eight years, and added that the Governor's transformational projects were delivered on time, budget and specification.

An 184 paged, 15 chapters book titled Akpokuedike, Duty Call In Anambra authored by Mr. Ike Chioke was also launched at the event.

Speaking to the ABS on the honour by the Governor, some of the awardees including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matter, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, Dr. Uche Nworah and Special Adviser to the Governor on Creative Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi thanked the Governor for the honour.

Distinguished Anambra State Grand Commander award was also given given to some people including Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Former Governor Peter Obi, Dr. Ebelechukwu Obiano, Senator Victor Umeh, Right Honourable Uchenna Okafor, Senator Ben Obi, Chief Clem Nwogbo, among others, while the popular Anambra-born music mastro, Flavour entertained the audience.
