 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Gov. Abiodun appoints new Accountant General, Solicitor General, 7 Permanent Secretaries

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of eight new Permanent Secretaries and a new Accountant General for the State.

A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin said "the new appointees will fill the existing vacancies among the rank of Permanent Secretaries in the State Public Service.

“Seniority, merit, professionalism and inclusiveness are considered in the appointment of the Permanent Secretaries and the Accountant General for the State in the exercise of the Governor’s power under the provision of Section 208 (c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)".

The new Permanent Secretaries are:

i. Mr. Waheed Adesina;
ii. Mr. Adetayo Adewale;
iii. Mr. Adedayo Oluyemi Somoye;
iv. Mr. Oluwaseyi Sokoya;
v. Dr Qudus Adegboyega Yusuf;
vi. Mr. Adenopo Adegbenga; and
vii. Dr. Oladeinde Moshood Kayode.

The statement noted that Messrs Adebayo Bamidele and Mr. Aregbesola Thomas Babatunde will function as the State's new Solicitor General and Accountant General respectively. 

While congratulating the new appointees, Governor Abiodun urges them to brace up for the challenges of their positions and apply themselves diligently to the “Building Our Future Together" Agenda of the Administration.
