A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough. Suspected Fulani herdsmen have sent threat messages to residents in some communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State to vacate their ancestral homes or face serious attack.

Some of the communities, Tse Ahentse, Iye and Udei, were attacked on Tuesday and Thursday leading to the death of 13 persons.

It was learnt that the gunmen on Wednesday sent mercenaries and issued a threat to people living in Torkula Village in the same Guma LGA to vacate the community or face the consequences.

Torkula is the ancestral home of the late paramount ruler of Tiv nation, HRM Alfred Akawe Torkula.

“Eyewitness account said the Fulani terrorists who had earlier issued a threat to the Tse Torkula community, asking them to leave the village or face dire consequences, came on motorcycles and without any herd of cattle,” the governor’s spokesperson said.
