NAF Advocates Special Fund for OSGoF for Seamless Operations
By Fajoye Morenike Victoria
Chief Intelligence of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Vice-Marshal (AVM) Abubakar S. Liman has advocated special fund for the seamless operations of the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF) due to the peculiar nature and relevance of its activities to national security, unity and sustainable development.
AVM Liman advocated this when he recently led a team of officers on a courtesy visit to the Surveyor General of the Federation (SGoF), Surv. Abudulganiyu Adeyemi Adebomehin at the Survey House in Abuja. He said the purpose of his visit was to seek for areas of further collaboration with OSGoF because of its expertise, skills and data required to aid NAF in its operations. He solicited synergy of relevant authorities especially for the war against insecurity hence according to him, “Security is everyone’s business. War is a national assignment”, which requires the support of every citizen.
The Chief of the Air Intelligence reiterated the significance of the role of OSGoF in the war against criminality in the country pointing out that the usual annual budgeting system could hardly suffice for the proper funding of the pervasive activities of the Office.
In his response, the SGoF, Surv. Adebomehin said OSGoF, an extra-ministerial establishment of the Nigerian Government as the apex mapping arm and responsible for implementing the survey coordination act of the country was ready to provide all resources at its disposal for the success of the operations of NAF and other arms of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Surv. Adebomehin disclosed that the Office produced navigational charts for the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) which was certified by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). He added that OSGoF has acquired more sophisticated equipment and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and a digital printing outfit.
He stressed that the surveyors and other staffers of OSGoF were already undergoing series of trainings and retraining for the readiness of the Office in providing geospatial needs of the government and its MDAs and every other sector of the Nigerian economy.
The duo implored all hands to be on deck to achieve durable peace and national unity.
