 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

NIGERIAN ARMY PARTNERS FMBN ON SPECIAL PROJECTS


The Nigerian Army (NA) has resolved to partner with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) to enhance the development of some remarkable projects of the NA. 

The NA and FMBN came to concession when the Group Managing Director (GMD), Nigerian Army Welfare Limited by Guarantee (NAWLG), Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, paid a working visit to the Managing Director (MD) FMBN, Arch Umar Dangiwa. The GMD, NAWLG stated that, the establishment is a major handler of NA’s businesses and needed to collaborate with FMBN in order to foster the affairs of the NA. 

Maj Gen Fayemiwo also noted that there has been a long-standing relationship between the NA and the FMBN which needs to be strengthened.  
According to NAWLG boss, there is the need to create awareness among personnel in the handling of mortgage loans as well as improve on the already existing synergy between members and the scheme. This he said will enable contributors benefit from their inputes as well as build confidence between the scheme and the contributors. Maj Gen Fayemiwo decried the risk of economic variables which has become a determining factor in the achievement of successes in the housing industry and commended FMBN for its numerous achievements and solicited for greater support for the NA.

The MD FMBN, Arch DANGIWA while responding thanked the GMD NAWLG, Maj Gen Fayemiwo for the visit and stated that FMBN and NAWLG will continue to remain partners in progress, while promoting mutual understanding which will in turn promote more achievements. Arc Dangiwa stated that the NA has been a regular contributor to the scheme as a result, the bank has also extended mortgage loans to officers and soldier of the NA. 

He pledged the FMBN’s continued support to the NA by way of providing mortgage facilities with the aim of enhancing housing projects for NA personnel.
