Terror Attack: Qualifying For World Cup Would Have Been Distracting -Actress Mary Remmy Njoku

Actress and filmmaker, Mary Remmy Njoku, has thanked God that Nigeria didn't qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria failed to qualify after playing a 1-1 draw with Ghana at the stadium in Abuja on Tuesday. Ghana qualified on Away Goal.

She said a World Cup qualification would have distracted Nigerians from the challenges facing the country.

The actress said this on her Instagram page.

She said, "Thank God, we didn't qualify for the World Cup. It would have been a distraction. We need to focus on the real problems in Nigeria and pressure the government to do something. An attack on a train. An attack at the airport."

An Abuja-Kaduna train had been attacked by terrorists on Monday night leading to deaths, abductions and injuries.

Before then, terrorists had invaded the Kaduna airport, however, the military has denied the claims, saying there was no attack.
