 Anambra Govt Warns Against Purchase of Encroached Land at Trans-Nkissi By MaryAnn Chukwuma The Anambra State Ministry of Lands has warned members of the public against purchasing plots at TransNkissi Phase 1, behind the Federal Government Girls College, Onitsha, from persons claiming ownership on behalf of the Umuosodi family of Onitsha. The warning was contained in a public notice dated Sept. 28, 2026, with Ref. No. PS/ML/2026/CR/VOL.II/028 and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs Nkeiru Mokwe, for the Commissioner. According to the notice, the Ministry became aware that persons alleged to be members of the Umuosodi family had invaded and commenced clearing portions of the land with the intention of selling them to unsuspecting members of the public. It said compensatory plots had been allocated to the family and other families in Onitsha before the current administration. ADEGOKE'S MURDER: HEARING ADJOURNED AS 2ND DEFENDANT COUGHS,SLUMPS IN OSUN COURT.(PHOTO).

Amild drama ensued on Monday at the resumed hearing of the murder case of Timothy Adegoke, a postgraduate student of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), when Magdalene Chiefuna, the second defendant in the matter slumped in the courtroom.
 
The Presiding Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo immediately adjourned the matter to allow the defendant to be attended to.

Chiefuna was said to have slumped when the lawyer for the defendants was arguing over the propriety of handing over the case to the human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN).
 
She was reportedly coughing repeatedly before the court clerk and corrections officials rushed to her side.

Last week, the Osun State Government declared Falana as being in full charge of the prosecution of the case involving the murder of Timothy Adegoke.

Adegoke was killed last November after lodging in the Hilton Hotel and Resorts, Ile-Ife, Osun State. Police investigations have linked some members of the hotel staff to the alleged murder and accused Adedoyin of moves to destroy evidence.
