Agbor Monarch Asks Political Parties To Guard Against Bitter Rivalries
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and other political parties in the country have been asked to guard against bitter rivalries and bloodshed in the build up to and during the 2023 General Elections.
The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Benjamin Keagborekuzi the first, gave the advice when the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, with chieftains of the APC, visited Agbor for the grand reception in honour of the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Barr. Felix Morka, paid him a courtesy visit at his palace.
The Dein of Agbor Kingdom urged parties to remember that as one people, Nigerians have friends that cut across parties, as such, none is the others enemy and asked them to work towards taking Nigeria to a better level.
Dr. Keagborekuzi noted that at the end of the day, peace and development are what Nigerians are looking for, saying he believes strongly that Nigeria can have so good especially as the United States of America has decided that its largest consulate in the world will be built in Nigeria.
This according to the royal father, means that throughout all the turbulence, the USA has confidence in Nigeria and it is happening at a time when the APC is in charge.
He called for peace on all fronts saying that it is only peace that can invigorate and bring back businesses to the country, irrespective of which party is in power.
In his words: "whether the APC or PDP, we want to take the country forward; but we don't need guns, we don't need the violence. Please bring in your brain power to take this country to the next level."
At the venue of the reception organized in honour of the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, Deputy Senate President, Omo-Agege said his declaration for the Delta State governorship seat in 2023 last Thursday, had rattled the opposition PDP as they don't want the truth told to the people and they are unhappy for saying the bitter truth.
Senator Omo-Agege described Barr. Morka as a worthy son of Ika land and a committed member of the APC whose membership of the party's National Working Committee and National Executive Committee would strengthen the influence of Delta State and the South-South geopolitical zone, adding that the reception for Barr Morka was another epoch event highlighting the rising profile of Agbor people and the Ika nation in the polity.
In his remarks, Barr. Morka expressed gratitude to the people of Ika federal constituency for organizing the reception in his honour especially Deltans and other South-South leaders who worked tirelessly behind the scene to ensure that he was successful at the March 26th National Convention of the APC.
He said that people simply focus on the distractions, frame the issues in advancing their own self interest not minding the fact of the matter is that in every sector, the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari's led administration has moved the country forward from where it was in 2015.
He promised that as the National Publicity Secretary of APC, he will work with a lot of vigor, enthusiasm, and candour so as to lead evidence based arguments and facts to the people.
According to him, people are paraphrasing the APC government in an unfair way but his role now will be to go out there and tell their story the way it is and retake the public space for the party to prepare the people properly for the 2023 general elections.
He said he hasn't done anything special to deserve the honour by Ika people but grateful because at the end of the day, it is the inspiration that will spur him to speak vehemently and courageously for the party as it has done an amazing job.
