  NINE PEOPLE ARRESTED AS CULT CLASH ROCKS BENUE BURIAL CEREMONY  PAt least nine suspected cult members have been arrested after a violent clash disrupted a burial ceremony in Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident reportedly led to the destruction of homes and valuables, with several individuals still unaccounted for. Tension gripped parts of Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State after a violent clash involving suspected cult groups left properties destroyed and several persons missing. The incident occurred in Abenga, Mbakya, and Mbabur communities during the burial of one Dugeri Terhemen, popularly known as “Black Deal.” According to local sources, the burial ceremony was disrupted by clashes between rival groups, leading to chaos in the affected areas. Anambra House Of Assembly Confirms Ezeokenwa As Commissioner Designate 



Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa as commissioner designate for special duties. 

The House confirmed his appointment during plenary following the report of the House committee on Screening and Election matters, presented by the chairman of the committee, Dr. Paschal Agbodike which found him suitably qualified to serve as a Commissioner in the government of Anambra State. 

Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor read out his confirmation, while the House supported it through voice vote.

Also at plenary, the member representing Onitsha North One Constituency, Honourable Douglass Egbuna returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the APC.

Honourable Egbuna who defected to the APC from the PDP before the November six 2021 Anambra state governorship election, said he returned to the PDP for reasons best known to him. 

Similarly, the member representing Awka North Constituency, Honourable John Nwokoye defected to the PDP from the APC
