 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Governor Soludo Swears-In 20 Commissioners, Special Adviser on Security 


The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has sworn-in twenty new commissioners for the State Government. 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi Rtd, was also sworn-in at the ceremony 

Governor Soludo performed the ceremony at the Exco Chamber of the Anambra State Government House.

The Commissioners who were sworn include:

1. Mr Ifeatu Onejeme -Finance

2. Professor Offornze Amaucheazi -Lands

Mr. Ifeanyi Okoma -Works and Infrastructure.

4. Miss Chiamaka Nnake -Budget and Economic Planning. 

5. Dr. Afam Obidike -Health

6. Mr. Patrick Agha Mba -Youth Development.

7. Mrs Ifeyinwa Obinabo -Women Affairs and Social Development.

8. Dr. Obinna Ngonadi -Commerce and Industry.

9. Mr. Julius Chukwuemeka -Power and Water Resources.

10. Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh- Education.

11. Mr. Paul Nwosu -Information.

Others are: 

12. Dr. Foster Ihejiofor -Agriculture.

13. Mrs Patricia Igwebuike -Transport.

14. Mr. Felix Odimegwu-Environment.

15. Hon. Paulinus Onyeka -Housing.

16. Mr. Anthony Ifeanya- Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

17. Mr. Donatus Onyenji -Culture,Tourism and Entertainment.

18. Honourable Tony Nwabunwanne -Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.

19. Prof. Sylvia Ifemeje- Justice and Attorney General.

20. Mr. Chikodi Anara-Homeland Affairs. 

Professor Soludo in his speech said that they were selected to be part of the team that will implement the disruptive change for the progress of Anambra

He stressed that the opportunity is truly a call to work and serve Ndi Anambra.

The Governor maintained that the reason for the expression of interest is to fish out those with passion to work for Ndi Anambra noting that over one thousand people indicated interest to be commissioners.

Professor Soludo, noted that, driving from the agenda of his administration of building a liveable and prosperous homeland, that he expects to see the templates of their fifty day delivery plan, adding that he expects nothing but excellence as they were carefully selected.

The Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Ngozi Iwuno later sworn in the Commissioners on behalf of the Governor. 

In a vote of thanks, the new Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof Mrs Ifemeje assured that they would place service to the state and public above personal interest and to perform their duties diligently and efficiently to achieve a greater Anambra State.

The state Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Ernest Ezeajuyi, Permanent Secretaries, among others witnessed the ceremony. 

Swearing to the allegiance and of office by the commissioners climaxed the event.
