 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. GOV. UZODIMMA REASSURES ORLU ZONE OF SAFETY AND DEVELOPMENT


His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma has reassured the safety of lives and properties of Orlu zone and the State at large.

Governor Hope Uzodimma in his expression of concern on the happenings in the region, made the affirmation at the Orlu Zone Development Forum Summit on Peace and Development held at Nkwerre Country Club.  

At the peace and development summit, the Governor had warned aggrieved Politicians to embrace peace and shun sponsorship of violence.

To such politicians he said, ‘’I cannot be intimidated because I have come to serve and would like to be remembered for good governance and lasting legacies that will mark me out from other politicians who are self-centered and self-seeking."

The Governor advised the Forum on the need to set-up a think-tank that would develop a blue-print on the needed sustained peace and development in Orlu.

The Governor further reiterated his divine mandate and leadership from God on Ndi Imo as he will not fail God or the people of Imo State to ensure peace and development not only to the Orlu region but the entire State.

Present at the summit were The Deputy Governor, Professor Placid Njoku, and Government Officials, Chief Ralph Obioha, Prof. M O Iwuala, Prof. Francis Eze, the Chairman of Imo State Council of Elders, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, the former Chairman, National Population Commission, Barr. Eze Duruiheoma (SAN), former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, RT. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu (Deputy Speaker IMHA) and a host of illustrious sons and daughters from Orlu Region.
