 Stolen Jewellery: Patience Jonathan's Ex-Aides Rot in Jail as Court Adjourns Case 40 Times Some former domestic workers of ex-First Lady Patience Jonathan have been imprisoned for over six years, with their trial repeatedly delayed due to adjournments. The 15 workers, accused of stealing jewelry and valuables worth N200 million, were arrested in 2019 and are being held at the Okaka Custodial Centre in Bayelsa State. The defendants were accused of stealing seven gold bangles and jewelry, five Samsung air conditioners, two sets of upholstery chairs, and six Samsung flat-screen televisions. They also face 18 counts of conspiracy to commit murder, armed robbery, burglary, and stealing. The workers claim they were unlawfully detained without evidence. "We have been in prison since 2019. Police, EFCC to Synergize in Tackling Economic and Financial Crimes in Edo State 

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, has assured the EFCC of the Nigeria Police support in tackling corruption, economic and financial crimes in Edo State.

Yaro who recently assumed office at the Edo State Police Command stated this on Wednesday April 20, 2022, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Command on the EFCC.

According to him, the visit was part of his familiarization tour of the state to enhance co- operation and partnership between the Nigeria Police and sister agencies. "This courtesy visit is to synergize, co-operate and seek for a greater working relationship to change the narrative of security in the state and create a peaceful society," he stated.

Responding, EFCC Zonal Commander, Usman Muktar thanked CP Yaro for the visit. He said it would further deepen the relationship between the Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.  Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
