  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. We made him governor because Oshiomhole persuaded us.  Ukraine: Some Nigerians Preferred Poland Prison Than Returning Home – Diaspora Chairman, Abike-Dabiri 

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, while condemning Poland for detaining Nigerians and other African students fleeing Ukraine, has said Nigerians being detained in Poland were forewarned of the consequence.

“There is no extra expenditure. With President Buhari ‘s directive and a govt team led by Geoffrey Onyeama, arrangements were made for ALL who wanted to return. Some stayed back and are now being kept in tortuous detention centres in Poland. They were warned,” Dabiri-Erewa tweeted.
 
On Thursday, Dabiri-Erewa had called for those detained to be released. 
 
Her comments come after the Federal Government approved $8.5million for the evacuation of at least 5,000 Nigerians.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
