Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Most Reverend Dr Peter Okpalaeke appointed Cardinal.
At the end of the Regina Coeli, Pope Francis announced a consistory for the creation of new cardinals on 27 August.
Here are the names of the new Cardinals:

*Lazzaro You Heung Sik* , Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy
*Fernando Vergez* , President of the SCV Governorate
*Jean-Marc Noël Aveline* , Archbishop of Marseille
*Peter Ebere Okpaleke* , Bishop of Ekwulobia (Nigeria)
*Leonardo Ullrich* , Archbishop of Manaus
*Filipe Neri António* Sebastião do Rosário Ferrão Archbishop of Goa (India)
*Robert McElroy,* Archbishop of San Diego
*Virgilio do Carmo Da* *Silva* , Archbishop of East Timor
*Oscar Cantoni* , Bishop of Como
*Anthomy Poola,* Archbishop of Hyderabad (India)
*Paulo Cesa Costa,* Archbishop Brasilia
*Richard Kuuia Baawobr* , Bishop of Wa (Ghana)

In addition to these bishops, the Pope has also decided to create five cardinals over eighty:

To date, the Sacred College is made up of 117 cardinals with the right to vote in a future conclave and 91 non-electors. From today to the end of the year there are 7 cardinals who will turn 80 and thus leave the list of cardinal electors.
