 Aguiyi Orders Investigation into Trans Nkisi Mining Site Over Environmental Compliance By Amaka Isikala The Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Clem Aguiyi, has ordered an investigation into the environmental compliance status of a mining site at Trans Nkisi, Onitsha, following concerns over extensive land degradation and its possible contribution to the growing gully erosion threatening the community. The directive followed an inspection visit to the site on August 1, during which the commissioner was accompanied by leaders of the Trans Nkisi community. The visit formed part of the ministry's ongoing assessment of environmentally sensitive locations across the state in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo's Fifth Pillar of Development, Environment and Urban Regeneration. CONTRAVENTION: LSTMB SEALS PREMISES OF PRACTITIONERS FOR FLOUTING REGULATORY LAW


The Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board (LSTMB) has started sealing up premises of Traditional Medicine Practitioners for continued violation of rules and regulations guiding the practice in the State. Those affected include Traditional Birth Attendants, Faith-Based Healers and Bone Setters.

The exercise, which was carried out in collaboration with the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, affected no fewer than seven practitioners, in Mushin, Somolu and Bariga environs.

Speaking during the exercise, the Registrar of the Board, Mr. Olorunkemi Olawale Kadiku, explained that the exercise was long overdue following expiration of the March deadline given to allow the practitioners to register with the State Government.
