 Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, OFR, has approved 100 hectares of land within the Abia Airport Project Site for the Nigerian Air Force to build its training base in Abia State. The Nigeria Air Force had requested an expansion of the 50 hectares of land already earmarked for its training base at the Abia Airport Project Site.  Governor Otti gave the approval on Tuesday, March 10th, in his office while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), Ground Training Command led by the Commander, Air Vice Marshal Adebayo Gabriel Kehinde, who called on him. "The partnership is such that Abia State Government is handling the runway, and the Federal Government is handling the Airport Terminal.  "We expect the runway to be ready very soon. Court Refuses Okorocha’s Bail Bid

The attempt by a former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha to force his release by the EFCC on Friday, 27 May, 2022 failed as Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High court, Abuja refused his ex parte application asking to be released on bail pending the determination of a suit he filed against the Federal Government.

Mr. Okorocha who was arrested by the EFCC on Tuesday May 25, 2022 premised his application on the grounds that his presidential ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress could be imperiled unless granted bail.

But Justice Ekwo declined to compel the EFCC to release him on bail but ordered the applicant to put the Federal Government on notice to justify his continued detention.

The EFCC has filed a 17-count criminal charge against Okorocha before the same judge, with arraignment adjourned until May 30, 2022.
