 NIGERIAN FILM "MY FATHER’S SHADOW" MAKES HISTORY, SET TO PREMIERE AT Y2025 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL  . . . "This is a proud moment for Lagos and Nigeria" - Sanwo-Olu The Nigerian film industry has scored a major international milestone as "My Father’s Shadow", a powerful drama rooted in the country's political and cultural history, is set to premiere at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival this May. Written by Wale Davies and Directed and co-written by Akinola Davies Jr., "My Father’s Shadow" is a collaborative production between Nigerian producer Funmbi Ogunbanwo of Fatherland Productions and UK-based producer Rachel Dargavel of Element Pictures. The film, shot in Lagos and Ibadan, explores the emotional aftermath of the 1993 presidential election and its impact on a father-son relationship. FOUR IPOB/ESN ELEMENTS MEET THEIR WATERLOO IN FIERCE ENCOUNTER WITH TROOPS


Troops of 34 Brigade Obinze have neutralized four members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN), in a fierce encounter that ensued at Amaifeke and Ihioma in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State. The terrorists were taken out today Monday 16 May 2022, while shooting sporadically, threatening lives and property of innocent citizens.

The irate dissidents opened fire on sighting the patrol team, who were out to ensure safety and security of lives and property of citizens. The vigilant troops engaged the criminals and neutralized four of them, while others succumbed to the superior fire power of the troops and escaped from the scene. 

Items recovered from the encounter, include one pump action short gun, 10 live cartridges, one Hilux truck, which was reportedly, snatched at gun point, yesterday by the irredentists, mobile handsets and charms.

Members of the public are please enjoined to provide credible information on the movement of the criminal elements to security agencies, whenever sighted in their communities.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up. The Appellant is an actor. He acted in a script that he was invited to act by his colleague (PW1), Damilola Adekoya,” he said.
