 FRSC CONFIRMS FATAL CRASH THAT KILLED 12 VICTIMS AT GADA BIYU ALONG YANGOJI–ABUJA CORRIDOR The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has confirmed a fatal multiple vehicle road traffic crash that claimed twelve lives at about 1145hrs on Sunday, 11 January 2026, at Gada Biyu, along the Yangoji–Abuja (YGJ–ABJ) corridor. According to a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Segun Ogungbemide, The crash involved four vehicles: one commercial trailer conveying coal, one commercial bus, and two commercial cars.  Preliminary investigations revealed that the incident could have been caused by speed violation and dangerous driving which led to loss of control. Further information gathered indicated that the truck driver was driving at an excessive speed beyond the legally prescribed limit for the corridor, lost control, and crashed into already parked vehicles, triggering the fatal collision. SOLUDO CONDEMNS MURDER OF ANAMBRA LAWMAKER, HON OKECHUKWU OKOYE, PLEDGES N10M REWARD FOR ANY VALUABLE INFORMATION TO TRACK THE KILLERS

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has condemned the gruesome murder of the member representing Aguata, Constituency Two at the State House of Assembly, Honourable Okechukwu Okoye and his aide, Cyril Chiegboka who were kidnapped on the road on 15th, May, 2022.

Governor Soludo who was speaking through a Press Release signed by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, expressed sadness over the unfortunate incidence.

According to the release, Governor Soludo condoled with his kinsmen of Isuofia, noting that it is probably the same criminal gang that attacked him and killed three policemen at Isuofia two years ago that are once again on the prowl. 

While expressing shock and the resolve of his government in confronting insecurity in the state, the release quotes the Governor as offering a reward of ten (10) million naira for anyone or group that will give valuable information that will lead to the immediate arrest of the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command, Mr Echeng Echeng has described the murder of Hon. Okechukwu Okoye as barbaric and an act of cowardice.
The CP had in a press release signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, recalled that the Command Operatives earlier embarked on a rescue operation following the incident of his abduction on same date at about 5:30pm along Aguluzigbo Umuona, Aguata LGA.

The Police Commissioner said while the rescue operation was still ongoing, a headless body was seen and later recovered by Police along Nnobi, Ideani road which was later confirmed as Hon Okechuwu Okoye. The corpse has been deposited in morgue

The Commissioner of Police, while commiserating with the family and friends assured that the perpetrators of this dastardly act shall be brought to book.
