 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity. Governor Soludo Says Church-Owned Schools, Hospitals Should Be Affordable To The Poor



Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has called for the promotion of the spirit of ecumenism among Christians in the state to project Anambra to greater pedestal.

The Governor made the call at the eucharistic and thanksgiving service for the Third Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Anglican Communion, Awka Diocese.

The event was held at Saint Peter's Church, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area.

Governor Soludo, who stressed the importance of bonding together, reiterated the philosophy behind his administration as one state, one people, one agenda.

While stressing that building of churches and schools were major instruments of evangelism in the ancient time, Governor Soludo urged all churches in the state that have schools and hospitals to make the facilities affordable for the poor, as a means of social contract with the people.

The governor added that as a way of promoting the spirit of ecumenism in the state, his administration has begun daily prayer at the Governor's Lodge by different denominations.

He pointed out that his team is dedicated and determined to provide good leadership by gradually and systematically rolling out its agenda towards making Anambra a liveable and prosperous homeland.

This, he said, requires collective responsibility because Anambra has always been an Alpha State.

The synod, which had the theme; 'Running the Christian Race: Implications for the Believers in Perilous Times', was presided over by the Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
