 Court Jails Two for N14.8m Fraud in Maiduguri Justice B.T Zannah of the Borno State High Court sitting in Maiduguri, on Monday, July 13, 2026 convicted and sentenced two to three years imprisonment. The convicts are: Babagana Bukar and Hauwa Chabri.  The convicts were arraigned on Monday, July 13, 2026 by the Maiduguri Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on a separate one -count charge for the offence of criminal misappropriation to the tune of N14,800,000.00 (Fourteen  Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira). The charge against Bukar reads: "That you, Babagana Bukar sometimes in 2025 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly misappropriated and converted to your own use the aggregate sum of N8,800,000.00 (Eight Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira)  money belonging to Bunu Gambo Liman, being amount given to you through Babakura Umar and Bello Adamu for the supplies of 100 bags of IRS...

GOVERNOR HOPE UZODIMMA'S DAUGHTER EXCHANGES MARITAL VOW

...as she weds her heartthrob, Henry Ohaeri.

In a glamorous celebration yesterday, Oprah Chioma Uzodimma, daughter of Governor Hope Uzodimma, exchanged marital vow with her heartthrob, Henry Ohaeri in Owerri, Imo State.

The wedding which took place at the Maria Assumpta Catholic Cathedral, Owerri, was officiated by the Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Archdiocese, His Grace A. J. V. Obinna and witnessed by a mammoth crowd of dignitaries, associates, friends and well-wishers of the couple.

It was a gathering of progressive Leaders as President Muhammadu Buhari was ably represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo. Other special dignitaries who graced the occasion are the Senate President, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawal; the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Also in attendance was the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe; H.E Comr. Adams Oshomole; the Honourable Minister for Women Affairs, Mrs Paulin Tallen; the Honourable Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami; the First Lady of Cross Rivers State, H.E Dr. Linda Ayade; the Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment, H.E Dr. Chris Ngige and a host of others.

Father of the bride, His Excellency the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, displayed his legendary skills during the "Father and Daughter" dance. The visibly elated father, prayed for God's wisdom and blessings upon his children.
