 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Governor Soludo Promises To Build Affordable, Efficient And Accessible Health Institutions



Governor Chukwuma Soludo says his administration is committed to building a health institution that is efficient, affordable and accessible for the residents of Anambra state.

The Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike revealed the promise of the Governor today during an unscheduled working visit to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.

The commissioner who came with his team from the ministry was taken round the hospital by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Joe Akabuike, accompanied by his senior members of staff of the Hospital. 

Speaking to the ABS after the inspection, Dr. Obidike said that the visit was as a result of the Governor's mandate that his ministry shall visit all the Government's owned hospitals in the state with a view to ascertaining their areas of strength and weaknesses in order to addressing their challenges accordingly.

The health commissioner who expressed satisfaction with what he met on ground with exceptions to few places, cautioned the staff of the hospital to be more committed and dedicated to duty, as the Soludo administration will not tolerate truancy, laxity and unwholesome attitude from anybody.

On the issue of the cost of food in the hospital, Dr. Obidike made it clear that he is satisfied with the quality of food but appealed to the food vendor to liase with the hospital management for an eventual downward re-adjustment.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Akabuike who commended the commissioner for the visit, thanked Governor Soludo for his passion for the health needs of Ndi Anambra and noted that their greatest challenge is the issue of power supply among others, even as he expressed optimism that the current administration in the state is capable of transforming the health sector of Anambra State.
