Water Crisis Deepens in Nasarawa Eggon as Residents Resort to Unsafe Sources Residents of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area in Nasarawa State are grappling with severe water scarcity, resorting to stagnant ponds and muddy pools for their daily needs due to the collapse of public water infrastructure. Communities now rely on contaminated water for drinking, cooking, and bathing, raising serious health concerns. Locals described the water as foul-smelling and visibly dirty, but said they have no alternatives. “We’ve not had tap water in over two months,” said Adefu Ruth, a resident of Angwan Kuje. “We’re forced to use this dirty water.” Despite the presence of elected officials and the Commissioner for Water Resources—an indigene of the area—residents say there has been no visible intervention. GROUPS PICK N100M APC NOMINATION FORMS FOR AFDB PRESIDENT,AKINWUMI ADESINA. (PHOTO).

The President of the African Development Bank and former minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, on Saturday, obtained copies of his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to vie for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket.

A coalition of 28 groups consisting of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups, raised the N100 million fee to purchase the forms for the former minister.

Although Adesina is yet to formally indicate his interest the race, a body of Nigerians in the diaspora, Diaspora Support Group of North America and Europe, mobilising support for him to join the race.

A statement earlier by the Convener, Diaspora Support Group of North America and Europe, Dr Tony Bello, had said there was 100 percent assurance that the support groups will pick up the forms for Adesina once he is drafted into the race.

Bello noted that Adesina is most qualified, better prepared and the best option.

“We believe if we are able to convince Adesina to join the presidential race, under the platform of APC, that would be the best.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
