  Oshiomhole Convinced Us To Make Obaseki Governor – Philip Shaibu Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State, has disclosed that his choice to support his former boss, Godwin Obaseki, stemmed from his respect for Adams Oshiomhole, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Naija News, Shaibu shared his doubts about Obaseki during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm program on Tuesday. Shaibu admitted that he lacked confidence in Obaseki's leadership even before they took office on November 12, 2016. He explained that despite his initial hesitations, he ultimately backed Obaseki out of respect and based on the assurances provided by Oshiomhole. He stated, “Obaseki is not a politician. Says Demolition of Structure Imminent
 
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has commenced the evacuation of a distressed five-floor building at No. 13/17 Breadfruit Street, Lagos, ahead of the planned demolition of the structure.
 
The General Manager of the Agency, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, explained that the evacuation exercise is in compliance with a Court Order that directed LASBCA to evacuate the occupants of the distressed building and seal it up for public safety. 
Explaining further, Oki said: “Despite the court ruling since October 2021 and several pleas with the occupants to vacate the distressed building for safety purposes, the residents had remained unyielding, hence the decision of the State Government to enforce the ruling of the court”. 
 
He reiterated that Lagosians should always endeavour to build by the rules and prioritise safety, warning that government would not hesitate to bring the full weight of the law on anyone trying to compromise its efforts at achieving a sustainable and liveable environment in the State.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
