 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NEW LABOUR PS SOLICITS COOPERATION OF MANAGEMENT AND STAFF

 
The new Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ms Kachollom S. Daju, mni, has solicited the cooperation of the management and staff in actualising the mandate of the Ministry.
 
Daju spoke in Abuja, as she formally took over the duties of her office from the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo.
 
The Permanent Secretary also solicited their support as she pilots the affairs of the Ministry and works to deliver effective service in the Labour sector.
 
She noted that team work would enhance the productivity of the Ministry, and subsequently lead to an overall achievement of the Ministry's mandate.
 
According to her, “I am hopeful that with your full cooperation I can settle in quickly and work will continue in earnest. 
 
“Together we shall find new and innovative ways to build on the gains we already enjoy in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.”
 
The Permanent Secretary expressed her belief that the management and staff would work positively with her as a team “to support the Honourable Minister and the Honourable Minister of State, to not only continue to actualize the mission and vision of this Ministry, but also, to ensure the mandate of Mr President to better the lives of the citizens is achieved.”
 
She added that her experience through the years as an Information officer would stand her in good stead in pushing for a more visible Ministry of Labour and Employment, through publicizing its mandates and achievements.
 
Earlier, the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo, pledged the maximum cooperation of the management and staff with the Permanent Secretary, as they strive for the overall success of the Ministry.
