 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. NEW LABOUR PS SOLICITS COOPERATION OF MANAGEMENT AND STAFF

 
The new Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ms Kachollom S. Daju, mni, has solicited the cooperation of the management and staff in actualising the mandate of the Ministry.
 
Daju spoke in Abuja, as she formally took over the duties of her office from the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo.
 
The Permanent Secretary also solicited their support as she pilots the affairs of the Ministry and works to deliver effective service in the Labour sector.
 
She noted that team work would enhance the productivity of the Ministry, and subsequently lead to an overall achievement of the Ministry's mandate.
 
According to her, “I am hopeful that with your full cooperation I can settle in quickly and work will continue in earnest. 
 
“Together we shall find new and innovative ways to build on the gains we already enjoy in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.”
 
The Permanent Secretary expressed her belief that the management and staff would work positively with her as a team “to support the Honourable Minister and the Honourable Minister of State, to not only continue to actualize the mission and vision of this Ministry, but also, to ensure the mandate of Mr President to better the lives of the citizens is achieved.”
 
She added that her experience through the years as an Information officer would stand her in good stead in pushing for a more visible Ministry of Labour and Employment, through publicizing its mandates and achievements.
 
Earlier, the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo, pledged the maximum cooperation of the management and staff with the Permanent Secretary, as they strive for the overall success of the Ministry.
