 UNACCEPTABLE – GOV. ALIA BLASTS MBALOM KILLINGS, ASSURES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS  Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring residents of intensified efforts to protect lives and property. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor reacted to reports of an assault by suspected armed herdsmen on the community, an incident that adds to recurring security concerns in parts of the state. Alia said the attack represents a direct threat to the peace and security of Benue, noting a disturbing pattern of what he described as calculated and selective assaults. He expressed sympathy to affected families and reiterated his administration’s resolve to confront criminal elements. NEW LABOUR PS SOLICITS COOPERATION OF MANAGEMENT AND STAFF

 
The new Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Ms Kachollom S. Daju, mni, has solicited the cooperation of the management and staff in actualising the mandate of the Ministry.
 
Daju spoke in Abuja, as she formally took over the duties of her office from the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo.
 
The Permanent Secretary also solicited their support as she pilots the affairs of the Ministry and works to deliver effective service in the Labour sector.
 
She noted that team work would enhance the productivity of the Ministry, and subsequently lead to an overall achievement of the Ministry's mandate.
 
According to her, “I am hopeful that with your full cooperation I can settle in quickly and work will continue in earnest. 
 
“Together we shall find new and innovative ways to build on the gains we already enjoy in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.”
 
The Permanent Secretary expressed her belief that the management and staff would work positively with her as a team “to support the Honourable Minister and the Honourable Minister of State, to not only continue to actualize the mission and vision of this Ministry, but also, to ensure the mandate of Mr President to better the lives of the citizens is achieved.”
 
She added that her experience through the years as an Information officer would stand her in good stead in pushing for a more visible Ministry of Labour and Employment, through publicizing its mandates and achievements.
 
Earlier, the Director, Overseeing the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Dr John Magbadelo, pledged the maximum cooperation of the management and staff with the Permanent Secretary, as they strive for the overall success of the Ministry.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
