Ex-Rivers Deputy Speaker Seeks Court Order to Block LG Funds to Sole Administrator Former Rivers Deputy Speaker Marshall Stanley-Uwom has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to block the release of local government allocations to Rivers State Sole Administrator, Ibok-Ete Ibas. Stanley-Uwom, a former lawmaker under Governor Nyesom Wike, argues that Ibas cannot appoint unelected caretakers to manage local governments and seeks a declaration ending the state of emergency in Rivers. He also wants the court to compel Ibas to vacate his position and allow the democratically elected governor to resume office. The suit, FHC/ABJ/CS/797/2025, names President Bola Tinubu and other government entities as defendants. Stanley-Uwom has raised constitutional questions concerning the legality of Ibas's actions, including the release of funds to unelected officials and the removal of elected members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

Nigeria Has Never Been In So Much Debt As Under Buhari –Shehu Sani

A former member of the Nigerian Senate, Shehu Sani, has said President Muhammadu Buhari would have protested if the government of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan piled up debts like he has done.

In an ongoing Twitter Spaces session with Daily Trust, the Senator, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, rated the government lowly.

He said, ā€œNever at a time as a country has Nigeria been in so much debt. We keep borrowing from everywhere.ā€
He said whatever Buhari thought he had achieved would mean nothing if Nigerians were not secure.

Sani also accused Buhari of keeping incompetent people in office, wondering why he cannot reshuffle his cabinet.
