 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NSCDC PROVOST MARSHAL (PM) VISITS LAGOS COMMAND TODAY AS HE COMMENCES 1 - DAY MAIDEN ZONAL PROVOST WORKSHOP TODAY.


The Commandant General avows his unflinching commitment to rejigging the Provost Unit, of the Corps, in a bid to take the Corps to a radiant state of glory and honour.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, today, Monday, 23rd May, 2022, received the Provost Marshal (PM), of the NSCDC, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Babatunde Stephen Kolawole at the State Command's Headquarters (SHQ) in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. 

The Provost Marshal of the NSCDC, DCC Babatunde Stephen Kolawole, in line with the vision and focus of the Commandant General(CG), of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, disclosed, "his visit was hinged on touring the various zones of the Corps to organize workshops and train the provosts on modern democratic guidelines, techniques and tactics for good practices in the service."

The Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command , Commandant Eweka Edenabu Douglas Okoro, msc, acma, cna, also equally, officially and warmly, received the Provost Marshal and his team, who came from the National Headquarters, Abuja. He charged the participants (provosts), who were drawn from the Zonal Command, Zone A Lagos, Lagos State Command and the Liaison Command to be focussed and committed to learning new skills at the workshop, which have been magnanimously approved by the CG, following his unflinching commitment to training and retraining of the Corps' personnel as one of his major promises when he assumed the apex office of the service.

The Provost Marshal tasked the participants, who were drawn from the trio Commands on loyalty, discipline, proactiveness, professionalism, regimentation, dedication and commitment to duty and many more.

The Head of Training, Lagos State Command, DCC Kayode Samson Folaranmi, other senior officers and the Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, amidst others were also part of the participants present at the 1 - day maiden Zonal Provost workshop held today at the Lagos State Command HQ.

In the words of the Provost Marshal of the NSCDC, at the workshop, he said, "the Commandant General, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD, mni, has also further avowed his commitment to rejigging the Provost Unit of the Corps, in a bid to take the Corps to a radiant state of glory and in so doing, he has als directed that some uniforms and accoutrements be given to the provosts in the various Zones, visited by the team as a form of welfare package, which will serve as motivation to the staff.
