Awkuzu Community Road Barricaded, As Flood Blocks Enugu-Onitsha Expressway

Major road into Awkuzu community in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra was barricaded this morning, as flood from yesterday's heavy downpour blocked a section of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.

The flood, which destroyed property running into millions of naira, most of which belong to artisans, also trapped Police officers at Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State CID Annex, Awkuzu.

When ABS arrived the scene, individual efforts were being made to create alternative route for the flood, while motorists plying Otuocha-Awkuzu-OyeAgu Abagana were making a detour.

Speaking to the ABS, the Vice President-General of Awkuzu Progressive Union, Chief Onochie Nwotite, Messsrs Ndubisi Nsiegbunam and Obinna Ikedi, who recalled how efforts were made to get the construction company handling the road, called for both Federal and State government's interventions over the development.
