Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive. GOV. FINTIRI FLAGS OFF 60-BED CAPACITY COTTAGE HOSPITAL AT DEMSA


Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Friday perform ground breaking ceremony for the construction of Demsa cottage hospital amidst a cheering crowd consisting of sons and daughters of the community who came out in large numbers to witness the ceremony 

The Governor assured the masses in the state that his government is ready to pay back their support for his administration with every available resource.

He said his government will continue to pursue online with his administration's eleven-point agenda until he is sure that no one is left behind and nothing is left untouched.

He acknowledged the priority and support Demsa Community accorded his administration since its inception and assured to reciprocate through the provision of dividends of democracy with every resource available.

He maintained that healthcare and human services occupy an amicable position in his administration's eleven-point agenda and is committed to providing quality, accessible and affordable healthcare services to the people in the state.

He opines that in the past three years his administration has added tremendous value to the health sector with limited resources more than any government in the history of Adamawa State.

"Counting on our gains in this sector, we have established a state insurance scheme which provides free medical services and treatment to the vulnerable population of Children under five years and the aged over sixty, people with disabilities, pregnant women to the point of delivery and Internally Displaced Person's (IDPs)".

According to the governor, while the move is aimed at fixing the demand side of the healthcare services, the government is not unmindful of the supply side hence the move to improve the structures in the existing hospitals and even build new facilities across the state.

According to him, work has reached an advanced stage in four new cottage hospitals in Gombi, Girei, Shelling and Lamurde LGAs. This also includes the completion of Dumne hospital abandoned over three decades ago and carrying out major renovation and expansion across all the general hospitals in the state.

He said that his administration is constructing the first infectious disease centre in the Northeast and the first molecular laboratory in the zone and recruited Doctors, nurses, medical laboratory scientists, and healthcare workers to provide quality healthcare services across the health facilities.

He added that the government is heading to Mayo Belwa to perform another groundbreaking ceremony in no distant time noting that his administration will not relent in providing democratic dividends to the people.

In his remarks the state Commissioner of health Prof, Isa Tukur revealed that the groundbreaking ceremony is a steady match towards achieving universal health coverage.

He acknowledged that when completed the hospital will serve remote communities within and around Demsa LGA who have to travel long distances to access medical services.

In his remarks, Demsa LG Chairman Wenakam Wesley Fwa revealed that the project is a welcome development that will not only provide easy access to medical services to the people but, will also provide job opportunities to the teeming youths who will be engaged in the construction of the hospital and thanked the governor for the gesture.

The state Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Hon. James Iliya and the member representing Demsa Constituency at the State House of Assembly Hon. Kate Manuno thanked the Governor for considering Demsa in his administration's eleven-point agenda and promised to reciprocate by voting for him massively in the 2023 election.
