 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. NASARAWA FORMER DEPUTY GOVERNOR SURVIVES AUTO CRASH ON KEFFI ROAD



The Nasarawa State former deputy governor, Mike Abdul, has been reported to have escaped death when his vehicle got involved in an accident along Keffi-Akwanga expressway.

Abdul’s vehicle was said to have been involved in an auto crash while trying to navigate his route on the ever business road in the state.

The former deputy governor, who served the state between 2007 to 2011, was said to be at a private hospital in the state receiving treatments from medical experts.

As gathered, the accident occurred on Saturday evening while the former deputy governor was returning home from a function in the state.

Efforts to get the Nasarawa Police Command to react on the developments proved abortive at the time of filling this report.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
