 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. NAUB MATRICULATES NEW STUDENTS 

The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) held its fourth matriculation ceremony for newly admitted students of the 2022/2023 Academic Session on Friday, 3rd June 2022. The matriculation was to induct new students into the University, swear them on an oath of good behaviour and allegiance and formally admit them into the University as bonafide Students with all rights and obligations.

Declaring the ceremony open, the Vice Chancellor Professor Kyari Mohammed expressed that the University was conceived and based on the good ethos and values of the Nigerian Army, which are discipline, orderliness and respect for constituted authority, as well as the universal values of the university; which is the freedom to hold and profess divergent opinions. Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor said a university that cohabits on these philosophies would be built.

Prof Kyari affirmed that the Nigerian Army University Biu has zero-tolerance for unethical and immoral behaviour, adding that the rod will not be spared on anyone who tests the will of the University. On the same note, he said that the University would not tolerate examination malpractice, cultism, occultic practices, sexual harassment and violence of any sort. 

The Vice Chancellor disclosed that 333 students have successfully registered and have taken the matriculation oath. 

The Registrar Brig Gen SS Ibrahim administered the matriculating students the matriculation oath. Afterwards, he congratulated the enrolled students as they have become bonafide students of the Nigerian Army University Biu.
