 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. PRESIDENT NAOWA ASSURES NCWS ON STRATEGIC ALLIANCE AND COLLABORATION 


The President Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Salamatu F Yahaya has assured the National President National Council Of Women Societies (NCWS), Hajia Lami Adamu, of NAOWA’s readiness to collaborate on gender welfare issues. She gave this assurance at the NAOWA National Secretariat where she received the NCWS President and other Executive members.   

Mrs Yahaya also congratulated the newly elected Hajia Lami Adamu, on her assumption of office as the 15th National President, National Council of Women Societies (NCWS). She emphasized that, NAOWA will be willing to partner NCWS in the areas of Skill Acquisitions, Empowerment and professional capacity development of women.

Speaking earlier, Hajia Lami Adamu appreciated the NAOWA President for her warm reception. She stated that, the visit is aimed at collaborating with NAOWA to integrate more women into empowerment programmes towards improving the contributions of women in national development. Hajia Adamu further appreciated the President NAOWA for her projects targeted towards adding value in the lives of children and the less privileged. She stated that, NCWS as the Umbrella body of all women organizations in Nigeria, has branches in all the 36 states and FCT.

She further mentioned that under her leadership, NCWS has commenced a 5 years plan towards achieving the vision of the council which includes; Promoting women in leadership positions, Promoting economic empowerment and equal opportunities for women, ending violence against women and girls amongst others. 

Highpoints of the visit was the happy birthday song for the NAOWA President, signing of visitors book, presentation of souvenir and group photographs.
