  NBC bans Eedris Abdulkareem’s protest song ‘Tell Your Papa’ from radio, TV The National Broadcasting Commission has barred Nigerian radio and television stations from airing the trending song “Tell Your Papa” by veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, citing its “objectionable nature.” In a memo dated April 9, 2025 and issued by the Coordinating Director of Broadcast Monitoring, Susan Obi, the commission declared the track Not To Be Broadcast (NTBB) under Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code. This section prohibits content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of public decency from being aired on Nigerian broadcast platforms. According to the NBC, while the song has gained momentum across social media platforms, its lyrical content fails to meet the standards of responsible broadcasting. SECURITY LECTURE AND AWARDS: DPR NSCDC NHQ AND CDPRO LAGOS BAG AWARDS. 


DPR dedicates award to Commandant General ( CG ) Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni.

The Director of Public Relations ( DPR ), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Head Quarters ( NHQ ), Abuja, Deputy Commandant of Corps ( DCC ) Olusola Odumosu and the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer ( CDPRO ), Lagos State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Corps I ( ASCI ) Abolurin Oluwaseun Olumide, were both yesterday, on Sunday, 26th June, 2022, honoured as the most inspiring, spokesperson of the year and the most innovative state security spokesperson of the year, respectively, by the management of the Streetwise International Magazine, at its maiden Street Credibility Lecture and Awards, held at the Kano Hall, NECA House, in Alausa - Ikeja, Lagos State.

The theme of the highly ceremonious, intriguing and educative event, which also resonates with the voices on the streets of Nigeria, was titled, "Finding Lasting Panacea to Insecurity, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking in Nigeria."

The erudite DPR and the CDPRO Lagos, were graciously selected for the awards, amidst other remarkably, well deserving recipients, such as; Dr Daniel Olukoya, Bishop Evergreen Ugo Wems, Bishop Dr James Grand Okocha, Major A. K Karma, Aare Dotun, Hassan, Hon. Mrs Olaleru Omorinsola and Route Commander Esther Olabisi Sonusi, amidst other personalities, from different walks of life.

The DPR, NSCDC, NHQ, Abuja, DCC Olusola Odumosu, who was unavoidably absent, was also ably represented by ASCI Abolurin Oluwaseun, CDPRO, Lagos State Command, who received the award on his behalf.

The CDPRO, Lagos State Command, who was the keynote speaker, amongst other cerebral resource persons, highlighted some recommendations, while presenting his paper and said, "the lasting panacea to insecurity, modern slavery and human trafficking, may include but not limited to the followings below:
Good governance, Proactive response mechanisms by law enforcement agencies, Improvement of the criminal justice system, Elimination of corruption, Human and infrastructural development, Improvement of border security and Leadership development and education amongst others."

The DPR, through the CDPRO Lagos, while receiving the awards, also said, "he seized the golden opportunity of the maiden Street Credibility Lecture and Awards, to sincerely, appreciate the Convener, Publisher and Editor - In - Chief, of Streetwise International Magazine, Mrs Akinleye - Babs Oluwatoyin and the Organizing Committee for their selection and invitation for such an inspiring award, at this significant time in the annals of our nation’s history."

Finally, the DPR, through the CDPRO Lagos, further said, "this award will be dedicated to the erudite Commandant General ( CG ), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, CG Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, for his widely recognised, uncommon achievements, in the aspects of training and retraining, security and rescue operation , anti - vandal operation, disaster and crisis management, peace and conflict management, protection of critical national assets and infrastructure and the welfare of personnel amongst others, within his short time in office."
