Social media was agog when a video of a young boy of 17 year old whose guardians brutally abused trended online.

Reacting to the news over the weekend, the women and social welfare commissioner, Mrs Ify Obinabo quickly reached out to necessary individuals and authorities, rescued the young boy and brought him to Awka.

Interacting with the boy whose name is Chikamnanyo Olisaemeka from Nnewi, he explained that his mother handed him over to his uncle in February but since then his life hasn’t been the same. Young Chikamnanayo further stated that his uncle Mr. Oluchukwu Olisaemeka and his wife Ebere Olisaemeka usually starve him and on some days feeds him once a day. Chikamnanyo revealed also that he hasn't been enrolled in any school since he came to Onitsha in feburary stating that his auntie, Ebere has the habit of beating him with sharp objects at the slightest provocation.

On what brought about the indelible marks on his body, Chikamnanyo explained that it has become a norm for him to be severely punished with an already heated electric iron when, but what broke the camel’s back was when he raised his hand on his little cousin who was splashing water all over the place while bathing her.  He noted that that act triggered the auntie to use both razor blade and other sharp items in beating him thereby leaving him with those wounds.
He went ahead to reveal that his uncle Oluchukwu Olisaemeka is fully aware of his wife’s behavior but chose to keep quiet and support her.

After rescuing young Chikamnanyo, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare quickly charged the case to court even as the boy is currently in Awka receiving medical treatment.
