OVER 25 MILLION PHONES STOLEN IN ONE YEAR- FG. (PHOTO).

 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. ANAMBRA HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY PASSES 2022 REVISED BUDGET OF ANAMBRA STATE.(PHOTOS).


Anambra House Of Assembly Passes 2022 Revised Budget Of Anambra State. 



Anambra State House of Assembly has passed the 2022 revised budget of Anambra State for the services of Anambra State Government for the year ending 31 December 2022.

The House passed the budget during plenary after the majority leader of the House, Dr. Nnamdi Okafor moved a motion to that effect which was seconded by the minority leader, Honourable Onyebuchi Ofor after the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation on the budget, which was presented to the House by chairman of the committee, Honourable Obinna Emeneka. 

On his part, Speaker of the House, Right Honourable Uche Okafor applauded Anambra State House Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation for doing a thorough job on the revised budget as well as members of the House for painstakingly passing the budget and read out the budget to the House, while the legislators supported it through a voice vote. 

Earlier,the chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Emeneka presented the report of the committee before the passage of the 2022 budget which recommended that the present administration should ensure that the list of roads to be constructed in Anambra State should be specific and cover the thirty constituencies in Anambra State, that funds should be released to Ministries, Departments and Agencies for optimal budget performance, while proper scale of preference should be adopted by MDAs during budgeting in order to achieve a realistic budget among others. 

In his reaction, the member representing Orumba North Constituency, Honourable Emeka Aforka described the 2022 revised budget as a budget of economic recovery, which will turn Anambra State into a liveable, prosperous smart mega city, while his Njikoka One Constituency counterpart, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma noted that it will enable the state government to function well.
