 Oba Owoade crowned 46th Alaafin of Oyo Oba Abimbola Owoade has been crowned the 46th Alaafin of Oyo. Owoade succeeds the 45th Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died on April 22, 2022, at the age of 83. The coronation event took place today (Saturday) at Oliveth Baptist High School in Oyo, where Governor Seyi Makinde led a host of dignitaries, including notable Nigerians. Dignitaries present at the coronation included the Olubadan of Ibadan,  Oba Owolabi Olakulehin; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Olaoye; Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; and Aare Oona Kankanfo of Yoruba, Iba Gani Adams, among others PUNCH Online reports that ahead of the event, the Oyo State Government had put in place heightened security measures, including the deployment of security operatives at strategic locations within the ancient city and surrounding communities. CBT HAS ENHANCED ADMISSION PROCESS INTO MODEL COLLEGES - COMMISSIONER


The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, has declared that the Computer-Based system initiated to screen pupils seeking admission into Lagos State Model Colleges has enhanced the selection process. 

Mrs. Adefisayo spoke at the flag-off of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) examination for admission into Model Colleges and Upgraded Schools in Lagos State, imploring parents of the pupils seeking admission for the Year 2022/2023 academic session to trust the admission process.

While answering questions on the conduct of the examination, she maintained that the pupils understood the process and observed that they were quite comfortable with the exercise.

Her words: "The participating children are millennium and 21st-century pupils, they know what to do".

The Commissioner also expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exams, adding that the State government's investment in ICT has not been futile.

Mrs. Adefisayo assured that every candidate within the cut-off mark will be admitted into any Model College, irrespective of choice.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
