Blaming opposition for hunger is ‘delusion’, Atiku tells Tinubu Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of blaming the opposition for the country’s economic hardship. He said the President was trying to evade responsibility for his administration’s policies. Tinubu had earlier on Saturday blamed his political opponents for hunger and poverty in the country while speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. “I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said. EID-EL-KABIR: SULTAN DECLARES JULY 9 AS CELEBRATION DAY

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared July 9 as Eid-el-Kabir (Sallah).

This is the second significant celebration in Islam.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by the National Moonsighting Committee Nigeria on its Twitter handle, @moonsightingng.

In the announcement, the Sultan was quoted as calling on muslims to intensify efforts in acts of worship during the first ten days of the blessed month of Zul-Hijjah and also pray for peace, stability and progress of the country.

The tweets read: “Assalaamu alaikum, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, has declared Thursday 30th, June as the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

“The Sultanate council will release an official statement shortly.

“Eidul Adha will be on Saturday, 10th Zul-Hijjah 1443H (9th July 2022) In Sha Allah. His Eminence, the Sultan hereby calls upon the Muslim Ummah to intensify efforts in acts of worship during the first ten days of the blessed month of Zul-Hijjah and also pray for peace, stability and progress of the country”, it added.
