 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. *PRESS RELEASE:* _Ekiti State Police Command arrests fifteen (15) suspected armed robbers, drugs dealers and cultists, recovers arms, others._ 

 As part of the ongoing effort of the Command to rid the State of criminal elements particularly Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti, the operatives of the Command, on 13/07/2022, clamped down on a group of hoodlums in their criminal hideout at Atikankan, Ado-Ekiti.

2. During the operation carried out by the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), fifteen suspected drug dealers, armed robbers and cultists were arrested. They are: Musa Madaki '35yrs', Abdullahi Umar '25yrs', Shola Adeyemi '43yrs', Hawalu Ali '45yrs', Usman Amisu '30yrs', Haruna Usman '20yrs', Yanusa Abubakar '25yrs', Usman Lawali '20yrs', Ajayi Opeyemi '20yrs', Toheeb Isa '21yrs', Ajiboye Michael '19yrs', Kayode Yinka '20yrs', Taiwo Michael '20yrs', Jimoh Zarheal '19yrs' and David Henry '36yrs'.

3. Items recovered from the suspects are:
√ Two(2) locally made single barrel guns
√ Two(2) battle axes 
√ Two (2) locally made pistols
√ Some wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp

4. The suspects confessed to be members of armed robbery gang, illicit drug dealers and cultists.

5. The suspects shall be arraigned accordingly as soon as investigation is concluded.
