 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. FEMALE STUDENT ABDUCTED FROM HER HOSTEL IN CROSS RIVER.(PHOTO).

A female student of Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State has been abducted by gunmen. 

The student was abducted after the gunmen invaded the school's hostel around 8pm on Tuesday July 19. 

The Acting Registrar of the institution, Mrs.Ughas Ngozi said in a statement; 

 “Management is on top of events and the security agencies are in control of the situation. All students and staff are please requested to remain calm and go about their normal duties.”

The public are also warned to desist from circulating false information."

Multiple sources told The Nation that the incident occurred while students were returning from their night reading class.  Others who escaped from the attack sustained various degrees of injuries.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the Commissioner Of Police, Aminu Alhassan has deployed the anti- kidnapping, anti cultism and dragon units to forestall law and order and secure the kidnapped victim.
