 Ogun cracks down on criminals, lights up Sagamu Interchange, clears shanties As part of efforts to make the Sagamu Interchange and its environs a no-go area for criminals, the Ogun State Government has provided illumination at the under-bridge area along the Lagos - Ibadan Expressway and subsequently at the four intersections of the Interchange. The Ogun State Government, which took this step after clearing the illegal shanties, shops and stalls in the area in order to deprive criminals of a cover in the area, undertook adequate illumination of the area through solar street lights. Recently, the State Government, in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon Kayode Akinmade, had said that it was fully apprised of the situation in the area and would never allow criminals to continue to launch attacks on innocent citizens. FEMALE STUDENT ABDUCTED FROM HER HOSTEL IN CROSS RIVER.(PHOTO).

A female student of Arthur Jarvis University in Akpabuyo local government area of Cross River State has been abducted by gunmen. 

The student was abducted after the gunmen invaded the school's hostel around 8pm on Tuesday July 19. 

The Acting Registrar of the institution, Mrs.Ughas Ngozi said in a statement; 

 “Management is on top of events and the security agencies are in control of the situation. All students and staff are please requested to remain calm and go about their normal duties.”

The public are also warned to desist from circulating false information."

Multiple sources told The Nation that the incident occurred while students were returning from their night reading class.  Others who escaped from the attack sustained various degrees of injuries.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, said the Commissioner Of Police, Aminu Alhassan has deployed the anti- kidnapping, anti cultism and dragon units to forestall law and order and secure the kidnapped victim.

 Actor Baba Ijesha appeals five-year jail sentence for sexual assault Nollywood actor Olanrewaju James, known as Baba Ijesha, has filed an appeal against his conviction for the sexual assault of a minor. He has requested the Court of Appeal, Lagos Division, to overturn the ruling of the Lagos State High Court, which sentenced him to five years in prison. The conviction was handed down by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo (retd.) of the Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court on July 14, 2022 to Baba Ijesha. Baba Ijesha through his counsel Kayode Olabiran on Tuesday, told the appeal court that his client was set up and that he acted according to a script that he was invited to act on by his colleague. “The Appellant was set up.
