 Carrick favourite for Man Utd caretaker role Michael Carrick has emerged as favourite to be appointed Manchester United caretaker head coach, according to sources close to the process. Club chiefs are hoping to have an appointment in place for when players return to training on Wednesday. While a final decision is yet to be reached, talks are said to have progressed with the 44-year-old over the position. Carrick previously had a three-game stint as United's temporary boss following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's dismissal in 2021. He won two and drew one of those matches but left after Ralf Rangnick's arrival as interim manager. Solskjaer held face-to-face discussions with the club on Saturday about a return. United sacked Ruben Amorim as manager after 14 months in the job on 5 January. GOV. ORTOM'S CONVOY INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT IN ABUJA



The Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom’s convoy on Sunday was involved in a road accident in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The governor’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Terver Akase, who made this known in a statement on Sunday, said no life was lost in the incident.

According to him, the convoy was heading to Benue State after accompanying the governor to Abuja airport when one of the vehicles collided with a golf near Karu Flyover in Nyanya.

The statement read, “We have received numerous calls from concerned Nigerians regarding the accident which occurred today near Karu Flyover in Nyanya area of the Federal Capital Territory.

“The Governor’s convoy was on the way from Abuja to Makurdi after accompanying him to the airport for his trip to United Kingdom when a golf car collided with one of the security vehicles.

“We thank God that no life was lost in the incident.

“Governor Ortom who has already arrived safely in the UK, deeply appreciates all the calls and concerns from Benue people and other Nigerians”.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
