 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country. OPEC SECRETARY GENERAL,BARKINDO IS DEAD.(PHOTO).#RIP

Secretary General of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo, is dead. He died about 11pm on Tuesday.

His death was announced in the early hours of Wednesday by NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari.

Kyari tweeted, “We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo. He died at about 11pm yesterday 5th July 2022. Certainly a great loss to his immediate family, the NNPC, our country Nigeria, the OPEC and the global energy community. Burial arrangements will be announced shortly.”

Barkindo was on Tuesday described by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) as a worthy ambassador of the country, when he received him at the State House.

Barkindo’s tenure as OPEC Secretary General comes to an end on July 31.
