  Indian billionaire Gautam Adani charged in US for alleged bribery, fraud Gautam Adani, the chair of Indian conglomerate Adani Group and one of the world’s richest people, whose business empire extends from ports and airports to renewable energy,has been indicted in New York over an alleged multibillion-dollar fraud scheme, United States prosecutors have said. The authorities on Wednesday charged Adani and two other executives at Adani Green Energy, his nephew Sagar Adani and Vneet Jaain, with agreeing between 2020 and 2024 to pay more than $250m in bribes to Indian government officials to obtain solar energy supply contracts expected to yield $2bn in profits. Prosecutors said the renewable energy company also raised more than $3bn in loans and bonds during this period based on false and misleading statements. Security Breeches: FG Orders Immediate Closure of FGC Kwali, Abuja. 



The Federal Ministry of Education has ordered the immediate closure of one of its colleges, the Federal Government College, FGC, Kwali, located in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja . 

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who gave the directive said the closure became necessary following security breaches on Sheda and Lambata Villages, suburbs of Kwali Area Council which also threatened the school. 

A statement signed by the Director Press and Public Relations, Ben Bem Goong, quoted the Minister, as saying the timely intervention of security agencies saved the situation and therefore, directed that arrangements be made for final year students to conclude their NECO examinations.

The statement also noted that the Minister had also directed Principals of Unity Colleges across the country to liaise with Security Agencies within their jurisdictions to forestall any security breaches in their schools.

Meanwhile, there have been unsubstantiated information that other Federal Government Colleges within the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have asked parents to come pick their children earlier than the official closing date owing to insecurity in the Capital City.
