 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. 2023: Peter Obi Names Professor Of Strategic Communication As Campaign Spokesperson

Peter Obi, the presidential flagbearer of the Labour Party for the 2023 election, on Friday announced Professor Charles Okigbo as his campaign spokesperson.

Prof. Okigbo is a professor emeritus of strategic communication at North Dakota State University (USA), where he conducts research on media coverage of elections, strategic fundraising in higher education, and the processes for leadership development and social change.

He had been Registrar of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Vice President of ORBICOM, The UNESCO Think Tank at the University of Quebec, Montréal, Canada, and the Executive Coordinator of the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) at the University of Nairobi, Kenya.

Prof. Okigbo had taught full-time or part-time at the University of Nigeria (UNN), University of Lagos (UNILAG), Daystar University, Nairobi, and the University of Nairobi. He has been a consultant and temporary adviser to UNAIDS, UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, Ford Foundation, and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung.

The Don has published seven books on advertising and public relations, dev com, strategic health communication, public affairs reporting, and market.
