 Over 25 million phones stolen in one year – FG The Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey report of the National Bureau of Statistics, a Federal Government agency, shows that Nigeria recorded 25.35 million phone theft cases between May 2023 and April 2024. According to the report, this was the most common type of crime within the period under review. The report read, “The number of crimes experienced by individuals in Nigeria was analysed over a period of time. The results show that theft of phones (25,354,417) was the most common crime experienced by individuals, followed by consumer fraud (12,107,210) and assault (8,453,258). However, hijacking of cars (333,349) was the least crime experienced by individuals within the reference period.” It also noted that most phone theft cases occurred either at home or in a public place, and about 90 per cent of such cases were reported to the police. Dreams models: Alphonsus Kennedy gets 131 votes, lauds fans


One of the top contenders in the 2022 Dreams Model International competition, Alphonsus Kennedy, has applauded his fans for helping to keep his hopes alive in the competition.

The aspiring top model, who came all the way from Dubai to be part of the show, has clinched no less than 131 votes so far in the competition.

"This is my first outing for a competition like this; and the experience is astounding," he gushed. 

 "I am working tirelessly to get more votes; also my fans are working day and night to make sure I win," Kennedy added, and called on his fans not to relent.

The indigene of Umunakanu Ama in Ehime Mbano, Imo State, also had good words for the event organisers. 
"This year's event is currently going well; from the auditions to the online process, it's been a huge success for the entire Dreams Model Academy."

He was also appreciative of the academy for helping to hone his skill in modelling, saying he has since discovered a lot about himself.

While expressing his passion for the modelling profession, Kennedy said his ambition was to become a top model with global recognition. In line with this, he had since patterned his efforts following top people in his field, he said.

"I am looking up to a lot of top-notch models in the society, one of which is my mentor KingmodeI. I love his resilience in bringing the best out of anybody who wants to succeed in modelling or any choosen field, he supports and brings out the best in you. My life, my mindset has really changed since coming in contact with him."


The event camping is slated for between November 27 and December 2, at Timeless Camping Palace, while the Grand Finale is for December 3 at Timeless Beach Resort, Okun Ajah, Lekki.
